Discovery of Mexico / the climate

The climate in Mexico.

The territory of Mexico is divided in 2 zones separated by the Tropic of Cancer, in north the moderate zone and the south the intertropical zone. The climate is related to L’altitude. Hot grounds (will tierras calientes), including the coastal plains and which rise jusqu’to approximately 900 m. If in north the temperatures are colder in winter, they remain constant throughout L’year in the south.

The rainfall varies much according to the geographical situation and from the seasons. It rains on average 3 times more at the south that with north and It snows sometimes on the plates of north and the heights of the Sierra Madre Occidentale and the Sierra Madre Orientale.

Rain season: Mexico knows one rain season from June in mid-October and a season dries the remainder of the year. The coastal areas, more particularly that of the Gulf of Mexico undergo maximum precipitations in September.

Hurricanes:

From June to November the risk to have to face a hurricane is serious in particular on the Gulf of Mexico. On the Pacific coast the hurricanes are less violent ones and less frequent.

Lastly, throughout the year, Mexico knows a temperature without great variations with soft winters and summers without heat waves.
