The Aztec people.
If it is advisable to fix in time the birth of the Aztec empire, 1325, creation date of the city of Tenochtitlán seems most suitable. This cradle city and capital of the Aztec empire were destroyed by Spaniards and it is almost on its ruins that will rise later, the town of Mexico City.
The Aztec domination extended from Tenochtitlán to the limits from the Maya cities in the south and north almost to the current border with the U.S.A.
It should be noted that the disappearance of the Aztec empire is atypical in measurement or civilizations disappear at the end of one period from decline. The Aztec empire, disappeared at the moment of its apogee at the arrival of Herman Cortes. Several elements contributed to this disappearance:
- Maladjustment of the Aztec warriors to the modern war. Indeed, much lower Spanish in a number was despite everything in position of force because of the material superiority (armours and weapons with fire) they had.
- physiological Maladjustment of the Amerindians to the microbial and viral infections.
- Belief in the return of the Quetzalcoatl god who returned to take possession of his empire and like the Maya, the Aztec ones easily assimilated Spaniards to gods.
From 1375 with Acamapichtli until Cuauhtémoc hung in 1525 by the Cortes 11 emperors reigned on the Aztec territory. Most famous of them was Moctezuma II witness unhappy of the arrival of Spaniards and died following a popular revolt directed as much against his person whom the invader counters.
